The tree has filled in and is full of flower buds. It still needs to develop quite a bit further but it has the basic structure. It also has become more compact and less leggy. So it is well on its way to becoming a very nice Shohin bonsai. Sept 2006

This little tree just keeps getting better. I wired down the first branch on the left and it really framed the trunk a lot better. I would have to think that by next year this tree will be ready for show. Sept 2006

This tree has come such a long way from what it looked like just 3 years ago. It has finally been carved to add some taper to the top of the tree and the branches are now in place. It will just take a few more months to thicken the foliage to complete the overall look of this tree. I plan to submit this tree for consideration for the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival in 2007. Over the Winter I took the advice of the review board for the Ben Oki Awards and shortened the tree. I am happy with the results, however this tree has turned into a real slow grower. So it will take a while to develop the top. Although I think once it has filled in this will be a very nice tree. March 2006
