There are a great deal of people who have an appreciation for Bonsai and would love to own one. However the presumed skills, costs, and lack of knowledge prevents them from pursuing this wonderful art form. Sometimes I have to remind myself that a lot of people that are new to Bonsai may be viewing my site. So I need to be sure to provide content and information that I needed when I started in this art form.

The Epcot Flower and Garden Show is only weeks away and I am doing my final last minute touches to my Ficus Nerifolia so that it is ready for the 10 week exhibit.
Here is the tree after adding petroleum jelly to the bonsai pot to darken and clean the pot. I also sprayed the bark with vegetable oil to bring out the purple color of the bark. Lastly I added moss to create contrast and tie the entire tree together. The following video show the process.
I have been looking forward to repotting this tree for about a year now. I wanted to find more trunk flare and to get a color & shape pot that enhances the look of the tree.
