In the fall the leaves dropped to expose a great network of branches. This tree should be ready to style in the upcoming year. Nov 2005

A few months later and this tree has begun to fill in nicely. In the near future I plan to carve the top to add taper and interest. Also looking for better branch development and to define the pads. Lastly a change of pot to complete the tree. Nov 2005

The tree has come a long way but still plenty to do. As you can see mid way up the tree I have started another thread graft. I believe that should be the last one I need. Even though the tree looks fine from the front it looks lopsided from the side and back. Also when looking straight down on the tree there is a huge bare spot that this branch will fill. Keep in mind, a tree will branch everywhere it can to get as much sun to its branches. Branches won’t survive under other branches and limbs will grow if they can reach the light.
The top of this tree is still off center a bit and needs to be bent to the right. Once the lowest branch on the right has held in the position I have it now I will work on bringing the top over center. Oh and one more thing, I repotted the tree into this beautiful old Japanese glazed pot. The tree is happier and putting out a lot of new growth. Sept. 2005

To think I was actually considering destroying this tree at one point because of the insect problem. Well it has returned and is looking better than ever. I want to thicken the canopy a bit more to get a nice solid green outline. I am also playing with the idea of changing the pot, however I have always seen this tree in a round pot for some reason.
