This tree was root pruned to only about 10% of it’s roots left. I put it into a very shallow Tokoname pot that I had won in a photo contest. This is a beautiful pot, and it makes the trunk look huge. I have let the lower branches grow out in order to thicken them up. June 2005

Part of my philosophy is to see other people’s collections and to get their input once in a while. The first lowest branch on this tree has always bugged me. It looked out of place and was way too thin. I took the tree to a meeting last month and Mike Rogers pointed out that the branch should be removed all together so that the foliage would be more uniformed. After a quick “snip” the branch was off and instant gratification. It was an instantly better tree and has made this tree look so much better. I still need to develop a better top, but this tree is well on it’s way to be a finished tree. I was hoping to submit this tree for Epcot, but with the poor top I need one more year. June 2005
