A year later and just a little fuller. The branches are thickening up and will just need time now to develop. This winter I will be able to look at the branch structure to better define this tree. Aug 2006

The tree has put out a lot of new growth and has begun to fill in its new shape. I will just let it grow out this year and regain its health. Next year it will be styled. This one won’t take long to finish. I think you can see the general shape at this point. It will be shorter and the left branch will need to put out more growth as well. Aug 2006

When I returned from Japan this tree looked different to me. I say that the branches were too straight and too far from the trunk. I bent them all down and closer to the trunk. This made the trunk look much bigger and now the branches matched the movement of the trunk. I also repotted the tree into an oval pot, however I found it to look to unstable. I added a rock to help thicken the base and found this tree worked very well as a root over rock. Aug 2006

As long as I was working on the tree anyway, I figured I might as well wire out the top. The crown of this tree was to compact and a lot of light was being blocked. I spread out many of the top branches to open up this tree. Right now it looks bottom heavy because the top foliage now needs to fill in. However in a very short time this tree will fill in and be show ready. Aug 2006
