Again we start over. This tree was getting way to wild for me, so I had to prune it back hard. This year I will do my best to keep the growth in check. Trunk again has thickened even more. Mar 2007

Well what can I say? The top of this tree in the picture above was horrible. It all just needed to go. Look how much bigger the trunk looks now, and what great movement. The new leader is a thread graft from the branch coming out of the left side. By the end of this year this tree will have shape and nice branching. Mar 2007

My first thought was, keep this tree alive. So I repotted it immediately into my favorite bonsai soil mix

This is the tree that was given to me. It is a HUGE bougainvillea, estimated to be over 50 years old. This tree took a lot of thinking before I could begin working on it. Oh and it has a lot of thorns (ouch!)
