About a month went by and new growth has started. You can see how drastic a cut was made from the back shot. However the wound should heal up nicely.

Here is the tree after very hard pruning. It was shortened to about half of its original height and the knobs were cleaned off. Only a few very small branches were left so lets hope it makes it. March 2004

Spring has arrived in Orlando. This tree looks better every year. I just love the bright green color of the new growth. March 2004
In February of 2005 I won a $50 gift certificate from Dallas Bonsai for a photo contest that they hold quarterly.

This is the “after” picture that shows the carving done to give the trunk a much smoother look. A
grinding tool with a chainsaw type blade was used to do the carving.
After the carving the tree was root pruned and placed into a training pot. This pot gets used so often, and I think It only cost $2. The tree now has great taper and the start of a first branch. Feb 2004.
