Ficus Nerafolia (Purchased from Mike Cartrett 2003) Orlando Bonsai Store |

This tree will be a shohin this summer.
Wow, talk about neglect! This poor tree certainly needed some attention. Dec 2004
Still trying to thicken that upper trunk. Lots of new growth, so it will just be a few more months. May 2005
I finally shortened the long growing branches. They have thickened up pretty well. However I wanted to cut it back to help create new branches. I need to develop a top for this tree. As you may be able to see there are some new shoots emerging from the top even now. July 2005
This tree has come a long way in a short time. In this picture this tree looks huge, however it is only 5 inches tall. It still needs a lot of development, but it has its overall shape and is looking very healthy. Aug. 2005 |
It is finally warm enough to start working on this Solicifolia. I've been anxiously waiting to get this one into this bonsai pot. The two of them work very well together. The Ficus just barely squeezes in. In just a few months this tree will really transform into a very nice Shohin Bonsai. I'm leaving the top to continue to grow to thicken the upper portion of the truck. This tree should only be about 7 inches when finished. March 2004
This tree was root pruned to only about 10% of it's roots left. I put it into a very shallow Tokoname pot that I had won from the this site. This is a beautiful pot, and it makes the trunk look huge. I have let the lower branches grow out in order to thicken them up. June 2005
This little tree just keeps getting better. I wired down the first branch on the left and it really framed the trunk a lot better. I would have to think that by next year this tree will be ready for show. Sept 2006 |
