It never fails, when I get a great tree to work on I never have my camera. Well just image this tree with about 24 more inches of height and totally packed with heavy branches. That's what it looked like before I started working on it. However the tree is doing great. It was horribly root bound, and now that I have repotted it the tree has sprouted everywhere. I need to develop many of these branches and shorten some of them. This should be amazing one day.
Still going strong, but will need another year to fully get back what was lost this year. This trunk really has the potential to be something great one day. Aug 2006 |
This tree has done very well and continues to put out new growth. All the branches are in the right spot. It is just a matter of waiting for it to fill in. March 2006
So much for just waiting for it to fill in. This tree was hooked up to my automatic sprinklers like all my other trees. Only problem is that these trees don't like to be wet. Well this one was, and developed root rot. I darn near lost every branch and the whole tree as well. I stop the root rot I cleaned out all the bad roots and let it dry out for about a week. I then repotted it in new soil and hand watered the tree. I lost a years growth in the process and a major back branch, however I am glad to have saved the tree. April 2006 |
